Atlanta, GA- January 1, 2014 - The Center for Progressive Renewal has announced Finding Our Way Again: A Conference on Starting or Renewing Your Church as the theme for its annual New Church Leadership Institute (NCLI) to be held August 7-10, 2014. Created eight years ago, NCLI features world-class church planting and renewal experts within the progressive church, and is one of the main programs of the Center for Progressive Renewal (CPR). The conference will be held at the First Congregational Church, 105 Courtland St NE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
Dozens of speakers will participate in NCLI, the only conference of its kind in the United States. Presenters will include Brian McLaren, Carol Howard Merritt, Yvette Flunder, Cameron Trimble, and Michael Piazza. Finding Our Way Again will focus on the major themes including global trends that are reshaping what it means to be church in this time; how leaders can “retool” themselves to lead churches into a new age; and how to build sustainable ministries for the present and future. For those who desire to spend more concentrated time on specific issues, a one-day pre-conference intensive will be held in seven specific areas including “Church Planting”, “Digital Discipleship”, “Social Justice: Community Organizing Training for Your Church Leaders.”
At NCLI, we offer access to the latest practitioners and experts of our age who are changing the church as we know it,” said Rev. Cameron Trimble, Executive Director of CPR and the event’s founder and creator. “Our time together will be shaped to promote networking, creativity, imagination, and inspiration. Our goal is to birth a network of progressive leaders supporting one another in the reformation of our church. Bring your team and join the movement.
